Farm Update, Wednesday October 8
The zucchinis are dead. So are the melons, mustard greens, and beds of mizuna. After a long and bountiful summer, much of the garden has been harvested for a final time, leaving weary green leaves and stalks behind. Leo and Matthew, our two stellar volunteers, helped to clear two beds of sunflowers Wednesday afternoon along with several beds of radishes, mizuna, and mustard greens. In the coming weeks we will continue to clear the zucchinis and peas, the eggplants and tomatoes, and all of their summer friends, in order to prepare their beds for winter.
The student farm managers also got a chance to meet with one of the applicants for the farm director position, which was great. He was quite smart and engaging and we spent some time walking around the garden, talking about our hopes and plans for the year. if we are judging based on weird myshrooms drawn on shirt, then this guy has the job..
Hope to see you on Friday!
Ida
