Farm Update, Friday Oct. 10

October 11, 2008

A baby squirrel was found hurt and alone underneath the chestnut  tree.  I took it home and wrapped it in a blanket, I tried to feed it  but it died in the night, sadly. The funeral will be in the grove  street cemetery at 3pm Saturday the 11th.

Harvest day on the farm was ridickulus. We harvested faster than  I’ve seen on any  friday in my farm history.  There was no bagging  lettuce or radishes, the summer staples that took the most effort to  harvest are gone.  With the extra time we uprooted and composted the  zucchini plants and moved the leaves from the North Greenhouse to the leeks, which have been wanting for a couple months.  Then pizza, baby.
